The news coming out of DC today is that the CW, home of Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Vixen and the upcoming Constantine, have ordered a pilot for the pitched TV Series Black Lightning.

It is unknown at this time if it’s going to be set  in the Arrowverse. What is known is the series was originally in development at FOX but recently moved to CW where they have put in the order. The series is being written by Mara Brock Akil and husband Salim Akil who has worked on The Game and Becoming Mary Jane.

The series will follow the superhero whose alter-ego Jefferson Pierce retired years before the show takes place. When the series was in development at FOX, a loose synopsis revealed the character is getting back into the superhero world after he finds out his daughter who is a star student being recruited by a local gang and is hellbent on justice. Whether the synopsis stays the same since the series moved to CW is unknown.
